The former Thornley School is being transformed by volunteers into a community space for local people, visitors, tourists and the wider Forest of Bowland area.
The proposal for Thornley community space at the old Thornley school will aim to create a social hub. Offering a place for people to meet for social interaction and to promote and facilitate activities for the people of Thornley and surrounding parishes.
There has been a growing wish to utilise Thornley School to recreate a heart in the parish of Thornley, so often talked about by past generations. In the absence of a school or village green this can be the opportunity to give Thornley a central point.
Champion Bowland's grant of £ 750 has helped fund modest internal alterations.
